Today I discovered Italian breakfast pastries. I can’t believe I’ve been wasting my mornings on complimentary hotel croissants. So, to make up for lost time, I’m having 2 pastries a day from here on out. (Waistline be damned!)

Italy Day 10 - Rome

rome head

I think I burned out on photos yesterday, because there are hardly any shots from today. Or, maybe it’s that Rome is much less interesting on weekdays when all of the Romans are at work. The only people who are out are the tourists.

My train back to Florence wasn’t till 6pm, so I had a lot of time to kill today. I walked all over the place. In flip flops. Which I don’t recommend, because my feet were friggin killing me.

Italy Day 8 - Rome

Sunday, May 21st, 2006

Beppe picked us up this morning to take me to the train station and my dad to the airport. I was sad to see my dad go, but excited to check out Rome. Wish he could’ve stuck around to see it too. It was a little sad to say goodbye to Beppe too. Hopefully I’ll be back again to visit sometime.

Italy Day 5 - Florence

Thursday, May 18th, 2006

Today, we walked around and saw most of the mandatory Florence sights. Started with the Duomo, which is really amazing. The building is made from white and green marble. And every inch of wall has some sort of intricate statue or flourish carved into it. The Duomo is probably the most impressive building I’ve seen. (No offense, Bagby building)

Italy Day 3 - Venice and Burano

Tuesday, May 16th, 2006

In the morning, we went back to St. Mark’s Square (on purpose this time) to get some pictures in the daylight. That’s when I got attacked by pigeons.
